Nissan Qashqai Cabin Filter Replacement
Replacing the Nissan Qashqai cabin filter is part of the scheduled maintenance procedures. Changing the cabin filter yourself is quite simple.
When to change and which Qashqai cabin filter to install
According to the manufacturer's recommendations, the replacement interval is every 30,000 km. However, in our driving conditions, this procedure should be performed at least twice as often; changing the cabin filter every season would be ideal.
For the replacement, you will need the original Nissan Qashqai cabin filter 27277EN000, but you can also use aftermarket alternatives offered by various manufacturers.
In this instance, taking advantage of this option, we decided to install a TSN 97372 (activated carbon filter). Other alternatives include MANN FILTER CU1936, SAKURA CAC1810, MAHLE LA396, and many others.
Location and how to change the Qashqai cabin filter
The cabin filter is located near the accelerator pedal, to the right of it, behind the panel. To replace it, you need to remove the centre console trim, prepare the temperature flap control unit, remove the cabin filter cover, and dismantle the unit. After that, you can replace the filter and reassemble everything. More details can be found in the photo descriptions.

Alternative activated carbon cabin filter for Nissan Qashqai
Remove the plastic trim of the centre console on the accelerator pedal side to access the cabin filter. Pull it towards you.
Since the trim is inserted into a guide on the pedal side and held by 4 clips on the driver's seat side, the trim shifts to the right once the clips are released.
Before removing the filter cover, a specific preparation procedure is necessary: prepare the temperature flap control unit to make reassembly easier.
To do this, direct the airflow to the windscreen and set the temperature to 'HI' (the flap is in the highest position). Alternatively, set the temperature to 'LO', so the unit lowers it to the lowest position.
Then, bend back the lower part of the cover with a simple flat-blade screwdriver (red arrow).
As the cover has a simple latch, it is easy to remove and reinstall.
Now we can see the installation location of the Qashqai cabin filter.
Since the flap control unit will obstruct the removal of the filter, first dismantle this unit using a screwdriver. To do this, disconnect the plug from the control unit connector, then unscrew the 2 bolts holding the unit. The unit itself comes off quite easily.
Remove the old cabin filter (you may need to pry it out with a screwdriver).
Airflow direction arrows (pay attention to them) on the old used cabin filter.
The new carbon cabin filter also has an airflow direction mark.
To install the new filter, first squeeze it into a 'butterfly' shape, as the pedal will be in the way, and insert it into place taking into account the airflow direction from front to back (inserting the new filter is much easier than removing the old one).
Next, reinstall the cabin filter cover.
Reinstall the heater flap control unit. To do this, you need to return the flap wheel to its place while holding it with a screwdriver (a long thin screwdriver will be required).
Then connect the plug of the flap control unit and check its operation.
Finally, reinstall the centre console trim.
